Please try again in 30 seconds

For most of the last two days I have not been able to access my gmail account. Instead I have received the message: "There is a temporary problem with the server. Please try again in 30 seconds." Unfortunately, the problem remained for more than 30 hours, more in the regian of 48 hours. I got the same message when trying to check my gmail account from home and from work.

I got quite worried. I was thinking that gmail had been hit by a very bad denial-of-service attack. Or were they just moving the entire gmail database to a new physical location, somewhere in NSA headquaters?

Did anyone else have similar problems yesterday?

yes: "Please try again in 30 *seconds*"

It's the kind of message you might get occasionally. But if you see that message for all of two days, it does become worrying.

I got it the other day too, but it went away.

      Remember, it is in beta.

I've been getting this error message since late yesterday afternoon.

        Anyone else?

So I haven't had access to my gmail for 18 hours, eek!

Given that the idea seems to be to encourage people to keep all their email online, it is extremely unnerving when you suddenly find yourself unable to access your email for several days.

What CAN they be doing that causes the victim to lose access to the account for days at a time?

And what causes them to display a laughable error message "Please try again in THIRTY SECONDS"??

I imagine it is an automatic message that is shown when some kind of contention occurs ... but for several days??

Of course when it happens, you don't know how long you will be denied access to your own email.

"30 seconds" ? Oh. Okay. Try again. No? Oh, okay. 10 mins later. Hmm... Funny. Okay. 1 hour later. Damn. Next day. Damn. What going on? Same thing all next day and day after. And every time, it says mockingly: "Please try again in 30 seconds."

            It's scary.

I just sold my 55 shares of Google stock.

I don't care if gmail is still in beta; so many users are relying on gmail that if it goes down for more than 12 hours at a time, google has a serious problem.

I got the stock at $106 and sold for $308 so it was about time to milk the profits off anyway.
